The Singapore Laser SB3 Fleet was formed
in August 2006 to foster one-design racing in Singapore. The
fleet currently has 14 boats, with more expected to be purchased
soon. All boats are stored at and races organized by Raffles
Marina.
Approximately three racing opportunities are scheduled for each
month, with participation in the Western Circuit Regatta in
August strongly encouraged.
Racing is broken down into Spring and Fall Series of approximately
12 races, 60% of which count toward the final score. Most races
are short course twice around affairs, with the fleet often
voting for the last race of the day to be a passage race.
The SB3 offers exciting action with very close racing (finishes
are often separated by a few seconds), incredible speeds (20
knots here in Singapore), and a fun and supporting atmosphere.
Rules, boatspeed, sail trim and boat handling discussions are
organized to help improve everyone's abilities.
The fleet also organizes social activities including barbeques
and cruises. |
